MIUI 10 based on Android Pie gets ported to the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T
It’s common for us to see vanilla AOSP ports created for various smartphones. However, it’s quite rare to see OEM ROMs ported to other devices. We don’t usually see Samsung Experience available for devices like the Pixel 3 or LG G7, but MIUI 10 is used by millions of people right now. Xiaomi’s OEM ROM has created quite the mass following and now OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T owners can try the firmware out thanks to the work from XDA Senior Member ProtoDeVNan0.
This MIUI 10 port is based on Xiaomi’s 8.11.23 build of Android Pie and it requires your OnePlus 6 or OnePlus 6T to have the OB8 (or newer) firmware installed before you can install it. Since this is a port we are expected to see some features work while others do not. For example, the developer tells us the following bugs have been reported so far:
  • NFC (being worked on)
  • Flashlight toggle (third-party flashlight apps work fine)
  • Stock MIUI Camera doesn’t work so just use latest Google Camera or OxygenOS Camera.
  • Mi Account (Themes, Wallpapers, Ringtones etc work fine)
  • Alert Slider
  • Auto Rotation toggle will freeze your settings, so don’t touch it. If you accidentally change it, just change it again and it will unfreeze your settings.
However, MIUI’s AOD feature works, themes, wallpapers (both static and live), and ringtones work, full-screen gestures work, and Mi AI works as well. So if you’re a fan of MIUI 10 or just want to try it out on your OnePlus 6 or OnePlus 6T, then create a backup in TWRP and test out this port on your device.
